Two polish films in the official competition during the Film Fest Ghent

Two polish films will participate in the official competition during the Film Fest Ghent: W imię... (In The Name Of...) by Małgorzata Szumowska (all information HERE) and Płynące Wieżowce (Floating Skyscrapers), by Tomasz Wasilewski (all information HERE).

Moreover the latest film by Andrzej Wajda, entitled Wałęsa. Man of Hope, will be shown in the framework of the special events during the Film Fest Ghent.

Father Adam takes over a small parish in the middle of nowhere. He organizes a community centre for boys with a troubled past. Everybody wants to be close to him but no one knows he harbors his own secret. As the villagers' worst suspicions are validated, Father Adam becomes an obvious enemy.

In his 15 years of training, aspiring champion swimmer Kuba lives a normal, uneventful life - at home with his mother and girlfriend. He happily switches back and forth from good sex with Sylwia to the occasional back rub his mother craves. But Kuba has also been growing more curious about some of the boys at the gym.

Tomasz Wasilewski
After his studies at the Łódź Film School and the Academy for Film and Television in Warsaw, he assisted the work on many international films by the polish production house Zentropa (famous from the Antichrist by Lars von Trier). He was also the assistent of Małgorzata Szumowska, maker of music clips, director and scenario writer of short films. Płynące wiezówce is his second feature film.

Małgorzata Szumowska
This polish director is also a scenario writer and producer. She studied at the Łódź Film School after having studied history of art at the Jagiellonian University of Cracow. In 2001 she became member of the European Film Academy. She made several documentaries and short films. Her first feature film, Szczęśliwy człowiek, was released in 2000. Four years later she directed Ono, and afterwards 33 sceny z życia (2008), Elles (2011) and W imię... (2013).
She has received several awards for her work as a director and scenario writer. W imię... was warmly welcomed at the Berlin Biennale.
