Marta Dzido - Winner of the EUPL (European Union Prize For Literature)

Each year, the European Commission selects a dozen countries and awards the European Union Prize for Literature (EUPL) to a promising writer from each of them. This year, Poland was part of the panel of winners. The writer, selected by a national jury of literature specialists and publishing professionals, is Marta Dzido!

On 02 October 2019 the official award ceremony of the EUPL Prize will take place in BOZAR in the presence of Marta Dzido.

This event, like the EUPL Prize, is coordinated by the Federation of European Writers' Council (EWC), the Federation of European Publishers (FEP-FEE) and the European and International Booksellers Federation.


About Marta Dzido

Marta Dzido - born in 1981; writer, documentary filmmaker and film editor. Graduated at the Polish Film School in Łódź. Author of three novels: "A Mark Left by Mom" (2003), "The Clam"; (2005), hypertext "Matrioszka"; (2013) and a non-fiction book "Women of Solidarity" (2016). Director of photography of the documentary "Underground Women’s State" (2009) and co-director of ;"Downtown"; (2010), a documentary that has won the Hollywood Eagle Documentary Award in 2011. Screenwriter, co-director and editor of “Solidarity according to Women” (2014, Krzysztof Kieslowski Beyond Borders Award, special award of Polish Film Institute)  and docudrama "Women Power" (2018). 

 

About EUPL

The objective of the European Union Prize for Literature (EUPL) is to highlight the richness in terms of creativity and diversity within contemporary European fiction literature, to promote the circulation of literature within Europe and to encourage greater interest in non-national literary works.
