Rafał BLECHACZ
, a pianist whose mastery of the music of Chopin is unanimously celebrated, is returning to Brussels with a classical programme honed to perfection and devoted to the music of Bach, Beethoven and Chopin. Flagey’s Studio 4 once again has the honour of playing host to a musician like no other: the pianist is considered by critics around the world as the kind of talent that only comes along every few decades.

Bound by exclusive contract to Deutsche Grammophon since 2006 (like his compatriot Krystian ZIMERMAN), Rafał BLECHACZ has released 5 albums, the most recent of which – devoted solely to Johann Sebastian BACH – is out on 7 February 2017.
The near-legendary winner of the Chopin Competition in 2005, Rafał BLECHACZ (who will be 32 in June) has built a career which has taken him to the largest concert halls in the world, playing with great conductors and orchestras with a mastery which won him the Gilmore Artist Award, a prize awarded every four years to a stand-out artist whose path is followed and evaluated behind the scenes by an international panel.

The International Frédéric Chopin Competition for piano, better known as the Chopin Competition, is one of the oldest and most prestgious competitions worldwide. The festival was founded by the Polish pianist Jerzy Żurawlew (1886-1980) and takes place every five years. It is entirely dedicated to one composer: Frédéric Chopin. The 17th edition of the competition ended on 23 October 2015 with an exceptional winner: the South-Korean Seong-Jin Cho.
